APPLICATION & REMOVAL - Gel Tabs

Gel tabs offer a shorter wear time compared to nail glue, but they're favoured for their ease of use and minimal damage to natural nails. On average, gel tabs can last anywhere from 1 to 3 days,

Prep Step

  • Clean: Start with clean, dry nails. Remove any nail polish and wash your hands thoroughly.

  • Buff: Lightly buff the surface of your nails to create a slightly rough texture for better adhesion.

  • Push Back Cuticles: Gently push back your cuticles to ensure the press-on nails can sit closer to the nail bed.

  • Use Alcohol Wipes: Cleanse your nails with an alcohol wipe to remove any oils or residue.

Fit Test

  • Select the correct size press-on nail for each finger. If in doubt, go for the slightly larger size, as you can file it down for a perfect fit.

Step1: Apply the Gel Tabs: Choose a gel tab that fits the size of your press-on nail and your natural nail. Peel off the protective layer and apply the gel tab to your natural nail, pressing it down firmly. Remove the top layer of the gel tab to expose the sticky side that will adhere to the press-on nail.

Step 2: Attach the Press-On Nail: Align the press-on nail with your natural nail, starting at the base cuticle and pressing downwards at 45-degree angle. Press firmly on the press-on nail for about 30-40 seconds to ensure it's securely attached.

Soak Your Nails: Soak your nails in warm, soapy water for about 10-15 minutes. This helps to loosen the gel tabs.

Gently Remove the Press-On Nails: Use a wooden cuticle stick from toolkit to gently lift the edge of the press-on nail. Slowly and gently wiggle the press-on nail back and forth until it detaches. Do not force or pull harshly to avoid damaging your natural nail.

Remove Residue: If there's any gel tab residue left on your natural nails, gently rub it off with your thumb or a soft cloth. Avoid using sharp objects that could scratch your natural nails.

Nail Care Post-Removal: Wash your hands and nails with soap and water to clean off any remaining residue. Hydrate your nails and cuticles with cuticle oil or a hydrating nail treatment.

  • Short-Term Wear: Gel tabs are best for short-term wear, usually a few days, making them perfect for special occasions or temporary nail styles.

  • Avoid Water Immediately: After applying press-on nails with gel tabs, avoid getting your hands wet for at least an hour to allow the adhesive to set properly.

  • Storage: Store unused gel tabs in a cool, dry place to preserve their adhesive quality

Warm Soapy Water: Soak your hands in warm water for about 10-15 minutes to help loosen the glue.

Gently Pry: Using a wooden cuticle stick, gently pry under the edges of the press-on nail. Start from the sides and work towards the center. Never force or pull the nails off as this can damage your natural nails.

Acetone Soak (Optional): If nails are still resistant, soak a cotton ball in acetone, place it on the nail, and wrap with foil for a few minutes. This should only be used as a last resort as acetone can be drying.

Nail Care Post-Removal: Wash your hands and moisturize well. Apply cuticle oil to nourish your nails and cuticles.

Tips for Best Results

  • Minimal Glue: Using too much glue can make removal difficult and damage your nails.

  • Avoid Water: Try to keep your nails dry for at least an hour after application.

  • Touch-ups: For long wear, you might need to reapply a nail if it becomes loose. Carry a small bottle of nail glue for quick fixes.

  • Nail Health: Regularly give your nails a break between applications and treat them with nail strengtheners or oils.

Following these steps for applying and removing press-on nails with nail glue will help ensure a lasting, beautiful manicure and keep your natural nails healthy.
